Glenn Beck Supported Bush’s $700 Billion Bailout

You’ve got to wonder how many Glenn Beck fans who religiously repeat the “socialism” mantra and post so-called “facts” like “Wall Street owns our government,” are aware that Beck supported the $700 billion bailout when it was Bush doing the spending…

BECK: But these are anything but normal times. I thought about it an awful lot this weekend, and while it takes everything in me to say this, I think the bailout is the right thing do.

The “REAL STORY” is the $700 billion that you’re hearing about now is not only, I believe, necessary, it is also not nearly enough, and all of the weasels in Washington know it.

Fast forward to a few months after Obama has been in office and, suddenly, it becomes, “Our government and these gigantic corporations have merged.”

Fox News: Only Place You Won’t See Obama

President Obama chose to skip Fox News in his recent round of media appearances. Fox News is now trying to spin this in their favor, as if they had any choice in the matter.

As you may have heard by now, President Obama decided to do five Sunday shows today, but the White House made it clear they had no interest in talking to us. We have a Fox News Sunday exclusive, the only place you won’t see Barack Obama making yet another pitch for health care.

Unfortunately, for the viewers, they will only be subject to more spin and less information from the source. To Fox News this is a good thing. The sad part is their viewers will believe it and they won’t have the information necessary to object to the spin, or notice when it’s being spoon fed to them.

Conservative Site Calls Glenn Beck ‘Harmful’ To Movement

Self-described as the “flagship of neoconservatism,” Commentary magazine recently published an entry about Glenn Beck titled, “Glenn Beck: Harmful to the Conservative Movement” in response to the the Time cover article by David von Drehle. The author of the Commentary piece, Peter Wehner, states that what he’s seen from Beck should worry the conservative movement.

Wehner lists off many examples that show Beck’s bizarre behavior, including calling Obama a racist, his interest in conspiracy theories, tearing up, screaming at callers, etc. He calls Beck a “roiling mix of fear, resentment, and anger—the antithesis of Ronald Reagan.”

But the role Glenn Beck is playing is harmful in its totality. My hunch is that he is a comet blazing across the media sky right now—and will soon flame out. Whether he does or not, he isn’t the face or disposition that should represent modern-day conservatism. At a time when we should aim for intellectual depth, for tough-minded and reasoned arguments, for good cheer and calm purpose, rather than erratic behavior, he is not the kind of figure conservatives should embrace or cheer on.

Video of Fox News Producer Coaching 9/12 Crowd

This could be considered news fabrication… At the very least, it equates Fox News reporting to a day time talk show like Jerry Springer where the audience is coached as to when to applaud, or chant “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry…”

Behind the scenes:

On air:

So, why couldn’t Fox News simply report on the event? Not only did they promote it, but they even had to get the crowd to show extra enthusiasm on air.

Obama Skips Fox News & White House Response

Fox is playing the victim when President Obama skipped the network in a round of recent interviews after the network previously dismissing the President’s other speeches.

You have people on FNC falsely claim that the White House does not call on them at press conferences, get caught manipulating video of a previous speech, spread falsehoods about so-called “Czars,” acuse Obama of “indoctrinating students,” call Obama a “racist” and “dangerous,” promote tea parties, decide to not show his press conference on network TV, etc. etc. etc. and now they’re whining about being not being included with the other networks.

We figured Fox would rather show So You Think You Can Dance than broadcast an honest discussion about health insurance reform,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told ABC News. Earnest was referring to the TV show FOX TV broadcast September 9 instead of the president’s speech.

“Fox is an ideological outlet where the president has been interviewed before and will likely be interviewed again,” Earnest told ABC. “Not that the whining particularly strengthens their case for participation any time soon.”

Video: What If Glenn Beck Is Actually Mentally Retarded?

This is a pretty good video for showing some of Glenn Beck’s hypocrisy, double speak and buzz word use, discussing such things as the Obama/racist comments, hating 9/11 victims’ families, spelling OLIGARHY, etc. This video is not posted for the harsh comments, but rather the examples provided.

Jesse Watters, the O’Reilly Factor Ambusher, Ambushed

ThinkProgress.org was able to catch up with Jesse Watters and ask him a few questions before he was able to hop in an elevator. He tried to avoid the questions, having had them asked numerous times, and was caught in a few lies. First he stated that he didn’t know who ThinkProgress.org was. Then he stated that he sat down with Amanda Terkel. And as he got in the elevator, he stated that he didn’t refuse to comment for the NY Times.

Of course Watters knows about ThinkProgress – he said he called them, though nobody at ThinkProgress agrees, and he followed Amanda Terkel for hours and then she stopped on the street to talk to him. She never “sat down” with him. As for the NY Times claim, reporter Brian Stelter stated, “I called Mr. Watters repeatedly at his office #, and he referred my calls to Fox’s PR people. He refused to comment.”

CNN’s Rick Sanchez Slams Fox News Over Advertisement Lie

Here’s a great video of Rick Sanchez on CNN showing video evidence of Fox News’ lie in their newspaper advertisement that claims that other networks did not cover the 9/12 protest. There are several clips of CNN reporters at the event, discussing the event, and showing an angle from their tower camera that is nearly identical to the picture used in the advertisement. Perhaps the best part is when he shows Bill O’Reilly stating that CNN covered the event. Ooops.

Other Networks Take On Fox News Over Inaccurate Advertisement

Fox News purchased a newspaper ad on Friday in which they accused competing media outlets of not covering protests. The other networks are taking them to task over its inaccuracy. The ad asks, “How did, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN miss this story?” Short answer: they didn’t miss it. The ad is undeniably false.

CNN provided live coverage, event organizer FreedomWorks said ABC’s coverage was “fair and honest,” MSNBC had protest coverage and CBS had multiple crews on site at the event. It was even the lead story for CBS Evening News. “Fox News’ ad released today is blatantly false regarding CNN’s coverage of the 9/12 rally,” CNN said in a statement.

Response Received From GEICO

Visitor submitted response from GEICO:

Dear Policy Holder:

Last week we took action to move our marketing messages from the Glenn Beck show and you are wondering why.

Well, you deserve an answer.

If the inflammatory nature of the comments on a program overshadows our message and causes GEICO to be drawn into a national debate, we are likely to reconsider where we place our marketing messages, which is what we did.

GEICO delivers very important messages through its major marketing campaigns: we’re saving customers’ dollars … we’re easy to do business with … we’re looking out for our policyholders. That’s what we hope the public hears and sees and focuses on.

As a company, we do not take positions on controversial issues.

As an advertiser, while a national debate on issues can be healthy and appropriate, we don’t see ourselves in the role of taking part in those debates.

Our business is auto insurance. We want to bring people value and we attempt to reach large audiences with that message.

It is of little benefit to us if a controversy on the program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out.

Fox News Claims Sen Max Baucus as a Republican

Fox News must like the health care reform package put forth by Sen Max Baucus (D-MT) because they just claimed him as a Republican… They’re known for doing the opposite for Republicans who get caught doing stupid things, i.e. labeling Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC) as a Democrat when he admitted to having an affair.
