Glenn Beck Criticizes… Self?

In an article on the Fox News web site written by Glenn Beck, himself, he starts off with the fear mongering about a global Swine Flu pandemic. He asserts that the approximately 150 deaths are just the beginning, yet fails to mention that every year there are approximately 36,000 flu-related deaths in the U.S., according to the CDC.

Further on, in the same article, Beck tears into the media, of which he is part, for focusing on the Swine Flu on one hand, while not paying attention to what the other hand is doing. He mentions the Air Force 1 fly over of New York and the teleprompter operator error, both of which he blames on Obama, as examples of what the media should be reporting.

And there you have the hypocrisy of Glenn Beck. He begins his rant about the Swine Flu, which he later states is getting too much coverage. Keep in mind that Fox News is covering it non stop, and on other networks I’ve seen fairly even coverage. Glenn Beck is not only a danger to others, but shows that he’s a danger to himself.

Glenn Beck Poll on Waterboarding

It looks like the vast majority (three to one) of those who took Glenn Beck’s poll asking, “Is waterboarding torture?” agree that it is torture. As of this moment, over 9,000 votes have been cast and 75% have voted “Yes.” It’s comforting to know that not all of his viewers are sadistic maniacs or cop killers.

BTW, the poll is still broken when I tried using FireFox.

Had Fox News Been Around in 1993

This is an interesting look into what may have been seen on the Fox News Channel should it have existed prior to 1996 compared to the “news” they air regarding the Obama Administration. Specifically, how would Fox News personalities react to the 51 day ATF standoff with David Koresh and the Branch Davidians in Waco, TX in 1993. Take a peep…

As news of the failed Waco raid broke, would Fox News’ notoriously weepy and apocalyptic host Glenn Beck have broken down on the air and wept for the tyranny that he saw unfolding in the government’s raid? While FBI negotiators tried to win the release of Koresh’s followers, would Beck have warned viewers that the president would “take your gun away one way or another“?

Amidst the 51-day siege, would Beck have warned against the creeping “totalitarian state” inside America? Would the host have gravely announced that we’d “come to a very dangerous point in our country’s long, storied history“?

Would Beck have routinely vilified President Clinton as a fascist? Would he have told viewers that he wanted to debunk the militia-movement conspiracy theory that the federal government was building prison camps, but that he just couldn’t knock the story down — and that, at first glance, it appeared to be “half true”?

Glenn Beck’s Poll Has Issues

Hey, Glenn Beck… Your poll is broken. You might want to have that checked out. I wasn’t able to submit my “No” vote for your poll asking, “Will tea party momentum carry on past Tax Day” using FireFox, but it seemed to work with Internet Explorer. Here’s a screenshot:

Glenn Beck Takes His Comedy Show on Tour

Fox News comedian Glenn Beck, with his fabulously hilarious fairy tales of doom and gloom is hitting the road for a comedy tour. He’s scheduled six live performances over six days in June. Guess where I won’t be?

BTW, if you’re thinking about going, save your money and watch his joke of a show on FNC. But, I wouldn’t mind watching video of him getting heckled.

Glenn Beck Comparison Ties Obama to 9/11 & Pearl Harbor

Never short of comedic material, Glenn Beck doesn’t short us on laughs this time around… In one breath, Beck’s actor portraying Thomas Paine makes a comparison of Obama and his economic policies to the bombing of Pearl Harbor as well as the planes crashing into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

“Your complacency will only aid and abet our national suicide. Remember, they wouldn’t dare bomb Pearl Harbor, but they did. They wouldn’t dare drive two planes into the World Trade Center, but they did. They wouldn’t dare pilot a plane through the most sophisticated air defenses in the world and crash into the Pentagon, but they did. They wouldn’t dare pass the largest spending bill in history, in open defiance of the will of the people*, but they did!”

What would the reasoning be behind such an absurd statement? Desperation. It’s a fear mongering tactic to try to gain support for their Tea Party protests and there is sure to be more to come as we get closer to April 15 and they realize that the streets will be as empty as their threats.

Conservative Bloggers Turning on Fox News

A conservative blog, LittleGreenFootballs, agrees with a piece from Politico.com that Glenn Beck’s extremist rhetoric is harmful to the rebuilding of the GOP. Some have called this the “Glenn Beckinizing of the right wing media.”

He’s right. This turn toward the extreme right on the part of Fox News is troubling, and will achieve nothing in the long run except further marginalization of the GOP—unless people start behaving like adults instead of angry kids throwing tantrums and ranting about conspiracies and revolution.

Glenn Beck Is Great at Acting Insane

Glenn Beck and his fear mongering… He really seems to have a whole boat load of fear to dish out to his followers. The only way for him to keep his sheep in line is to have a steady stream of fear to feed them. In the latest fear feast, he douses someone with a gas can full of water and lights a match while stating the following gem.

“President Obama, why don’t you just set us on fire? For the love of Pete, what are you doing? Do you not hear — do you not hear the cries of people who are saying stop? We would like some sanity in our country for a second! We didn’t vote to lose the republic. We didn’t vote for any of this stuff. We voted for change.

Stephen Colbert ripped apart Fox News host (and New York Times cover boy) Glenn Beck Tuesday night, mocking his 9-12 project, meant to conjure the spirit of compassion and camaraderie Americans felt on September 12, 2001.
