Malware Attack

I’ve received notification that FNB has been hacked and that malware may have been distributed as a result. If you have been affected by this, or have seen a notice declaring FNB a harmful site, please understand that this will be addressed ASAP, and that it did not originate from FNB.

Some of you will undoubtedly notice many changes to the site while it’s being worked on, but hopefully things will be back to normal soon enough. Unfortunately, a lot of features of the site have gone missing, as well as spam protection, likely as a result of this incident. So, like the malware, these things will be addressed ASAP.

Many apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Update: The site has been fully updated, along with the theme and all plugins. There still appears to be a problem and it’s being investigated. Again, sorry for any inconvenience.

New Donation Options Added

Since the Fox News Boycott efforts started, the response has been truly amazing! From the positive feedback to the hate mail, I’m fortunate to feel the emotion on both sides of the issue. It has only strengthened my resolve to provide proof of media bias, violent rhetoric and falsehoods from the network that claims to be “fair and balanced,” but has proved to be anything but.

Donations received thus far have allowed the site to survive through several growth spurts, enabled more time to be invested in amassing information, providing resources, revamping the web site, and expanding into social media. There are other ideas in the works and great suggestions continue to come in, though it would be impossible to keep up with all of them.

If you would like to support these efforts and help FoxNewsBoycott.com keep up with increases in traffic and bandwidth usage, develop new campaigns to take on Fox News and their advertisers, or even just get a link on the Donor Wall, please consider a donation. I’ve added more options rather than a one-time only contribution. Now you can choose to donate on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis, in addition to the singular option.

Again, thank you for your support! I look forward to sharing more with you as the time comes.

Please click here to donate.

FNB Updates Coming Soon…

As you probably know, I’ve been on a fairly lengthy hiatus…  I realize that quite a bit has happened over the past few months and I haven’t been here to help spread the news. I’ve been able to make some behind-the-scenes improvements, approve comments make some replies, and draft out some plans, but other matters had priority.

I have several ideas that I’m hoping to implement in the near future. They will take some time and there are still the finer details that will need to be ironed out, but I think it will help us increase our efforts exponentially. Until then, I hope to get some more news posted and some areas of the site cleaned up.

Thank you for your patience.

New Page: Nazi/Hitler Obsessed

Taking a closer look at the informal fallacy, Reductio ad Hitlerum, and its use by Fox News personalities like Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity… A list has been compiled to show many examples of Fox News’ use of this fallacy to compare current policies to those of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich.

Check out the new page here:

‘Fox News Haikus’ – Add Yours!

A new page for “Fox News Haikus” has been added to FNB, which started with the the one originally posted here.

Here are some examples:

Fox can dish it out,
Their attacks on Obama,
But Fox can’t take it.

A Fox News fanboy,
Always demands truth and facts,
But never provides.

Please add your own haiku in the comments on this post, on the haiku page, via Twitter, or on Reddit.

Jealousy at FNC? Sean Hannity vs. Glenn Beck

Could there be some internal strife between Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck on Fox News Channel. AmericasHeadlines.com is asking if Hannity is jealous of Beck… Apparently, there are some new rules, or at least new clarification of existing rules, being enforced on the Hannity.com forums in regards to mentions of Glenn Beck.

Excerpt of rules on Hannity’s web site:

Yes… posts that say …. Beck is talking about XXXXX right now…. etc. while Sean is live on the area will be removed immediately if noticed by a mod. When Sean is on the air we don’t care what Beck is doing or saying. When Sean is broadcasting, as far as the boards are concerned, Beck does not exist.

The moderator’s response is a little bitchy… How hard would it be to include a separate forum for discussion involving other people in the media, or have one specifically devoted to Sean Hannity’s current broadcast?

Fox News’ Unfair and Unbalanced Health Care Reporting

From August 24 through August 28, 2009, Fox News aired 22 clips that were critical of, or opposed to health care reform efforts supported by Democrats. During that same period of time, Fox News showed ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH clips that were positive, or showing people supporting health care reform.

So, Fox News supporters, where’s the “fair and balanced” reporting you’re so brainwashed into  repeating, ad nauseum? Don’t bother bringing any other media outlet into the discussion… This is about Fox News’ obvious disregard for reporting both sides of the story.

Democrats.com Joins With FNB In Fox News Boycott

On July 24, 2007 Democrats.com prompted a boycott of Fox News, calling it “the propaganda arm of the Republican party, willing to twist facts and even lie to promote the Republican agenda.” Their boycott page has been updated to include background information such as Glenn Beck agreeing with guest that wants the U.S. attacked by terrorists againGlenn Beck calling President Obama a racist and, most recently, Glenn Beck joking about poisoning Nancy Pelosi.

As of August 9, 2009, Democrats.com now includes the following statement:

We join with FoxNewsBoycott and other groups in this boycott. Read the latest update from wikoogle, which includes advertiser phone numbers if you’d like to call: 8/9/09

Thank you for the support! If you would like to sign their petition, click here.

Another diary on DailyKos.com, this time by wikoogle, is calling for a boycott of Fox News and Glenn Beck advertisers. Thank you to wikoogle for the mention of FoxNewsBoycott.com. The following advertisers were also listed on DailyKos and were submitted by email. I’ve added whatever other contact info I could find to fill in any blanks.

Comment Policy & FAQ

I really don’t like deleting posts that have opposing views, but often have to if they’re not on topic. Is it that hard to refrain from asking why this site isn’t asking for a boycott of MSNBC, or telling everyone, incorrectly, that Fox News is the only media outlet that reports the truth? I suppose I could approve all those comments, so people could see how idiotic many of the Fox News supporters are… But, that would take away from the purpose of the site, which is exactly what they want. The polite ones who stay on topic get approved. The rest, unless you make me laugh, get deleted.

Attention Fox News Supporters

To the supporters of Fox News out there on the Internets reading this, if you can read, let me clear something up for you: You are not witty. You are not clever. You don’t need to thank me for listing companies for you to support. You don’t need to attack Obama. You don’t need to defend Bush, or his failed policies. You don’t need to point out what other media outlets do. You don’t have to like what’s posted here. You don’t even have to read the Comment Policy, or the FAQ, but I hope you would. Maybe then you wouldn’t waste your time posting nonsensical rants and, while they do make me laugh (at you), I’d rather you be a productive part of society. At least try.

That is all.
