A new site, StopFox.com, takes a different approach to fighting Fox News. The site was created to send a message to Rupert Murdoch and Fox News that people will focus energy (and money) toward so-called enemies of Fox News. Used in conjunction with a boycott of Fox News, their sponsors and supporters, this could have a decent impact. At the very least, it will get some attention.
How will one site do this? Donations are accepted and will be divided among several nonprofit organizations, including Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, the Democratic Party, MoveOn.org and Media Matters for America. One sixth of the money will go back into maintaining the web site. Additionally, letters will be sent to Murdoch as well as Fox News personalities Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.
While the site is brand new, much is in the works – Plans are being made to share records, receipts and copies of letters sent. StopFox.com currently accepts payments via PayPal, but credit/debit card payments may be possible in the future.
