You may recall that Roger Friedman, an entertainment columnist for Fox News, was supposedly fired for reviewing a pirated copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Friedman claims that it was an excuse and cover story for the real reason, which was to bow down to pressure from the Church of Scientology (COS).
Apparently, Friedman was critical of Scientology and had a run in with John Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, in which she called him a “religious bigot.” It is also claimed that Preston contacted Fox News Chief, Roger Ailes, and former Vice President, John Moody, via phone and met with them in person to discuss Friedman’s firing with the COS.
The background around the pirated version of the X-Men movie is also suspicious. Supposedly Rupert Murdoch, himself, requested a DVD copy of the movie and that is where the leak may have occurred.
