State Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA), running in a special election today to replace Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-MA) seat in the U.S. Senate, has received a considerable boost from Fox News, raising the question of ethics in such promotion. Fox News has provided a soap box and helped support Brown’s campaign:

  • On the Jan. 12 edition of Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, Brown said, “people can go to BrownForUSSenate.com, they can learn more about that and how to help with donating and volunteering.”
  • On the Jan. 11 edition of Fox News’ On the Record, Brown told Fox viewers where to find his campaign’s “money bomb right now that’s hitting.”
  • On Jan. 8 edition of Fox News’ Hannity, Brown told Fox viewers, “If people are kind of fed up…they can go to brownforussenate.com.”

The political action committee, Republican Trust PAC, run by Fox News contributor Dick Morris, has run ads and fund-raised on Fox News Channel. Both Fox Nation and Fox Business have suggested that a, “Brown win could cause huge stock rally.” Furthermore, Carl Cameron, a Fox News reporter, attended a Brown campaign rally last night, where he was seen relaxing with campaign volunteers, hugging staffers and autographing Brown for Senate campaign materials. While Cameron had enough free time to do that, he ducked questions from ThinkProgress when questioned about journalism ethics, stating, “Dude, I’m on a deadline. I can’t –” …Riiiight…

  1. Carl Cameron purposely misreported the attendance at the Obama rally. He stated that Obama couldn’t fill a small auditorium. He neglected to mention the 1000s that were lined up and down the block since about 6 hours before the rally and couldn’t get in. http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/91972/.

I saw Brown supporters on twitter repeating that broadcast and then telling me (who was tweeting live from the event) that I was a liar and wasn’t even there.

  2. Don’t trust Carl;just another propogandist.

  3. Oh Come on, like MSNBC and the others aren’t in the tank for Obama, they won’t even report anything that might be considered negative on him. What a joke, one news outlet against so many others… it is about time someone started pulling for the majority of America. So what if they did back him, all the others backed Obama and the Dems without question…in fact I saw that Planned Parenthood gave $10,000 to Coakley … that is our tax money there .. that I do have a problem with … who cares what private companies do. You libs are so upside down it is nuts!

i hate the fact that people are freaking about this senate seat……..for one, they act like we had a stable 60 votes in the senate to begin with. lieberman and the 4-5 other conservative dems were screwing it up anyways, so its not like we could get a strong bill passed in the first place, however there is still a majority so make them fillibuster until they cant talk anymore……..but of course, the spineless dems dont have the intestinal fortitude to make them do that………just pass the damn bill as it is and worry about it next year after mid-term elections

jim, First of all, this site has nothing to do with the other networks and what they may or may not do, in your opinion. As for the points you try to make, they’re complete BS and here’s why. MSNBC and CNN have plenty of negative reporting about democrats and Obama, whereas Fox News only has negative. You obviously don’t watch more than Fox News and if you try to say you do now, your previous comment would make you a liar. As for Planned Parenthood, they are not 100% taxpayer funded, so you cannot honestly state that you know the money they donated to anybody’s campaign is taxpayer money. The last figure I saw was around 33%, so that other 67% is likely from people who would not want someone like Brown in office and would have no problem with PP supporting a candidate who may support them. That being said, I’m not going to get into how we need campaign finance reform, but your comment was not based on facts, whatsoever, and shows that you’re “in the tank” for Fox News.

  6. Fox news is so disgusting that i wonder why it is still on the air. They do nothing but lie and slander and the blonde does not have a clue what she is talking about except that she has a loud big mouth. I do not watch fox slander i mean news any longer and i am boycotting them to get them off the air..This is America…we are not suppose to be slandering our own country. I will not watch some crap that slanders our president of the united states…fox news is not American

  7. @Patricia

Can you give us some examples?

    Meanwhile, in other news…

Fox News Finishes Week #1 in All of Primetime Cable!

    http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/fox_news_finishes_week_1_in_all_of_primetime_cable_150010.asp

FNC was the highest rated cable channel in prime time for the first week of 2010. FNC beat out all others, even USA Network.

NBC is selling Obama gear in their gift shop. You’re really going to wet yourself over what you view as slanted coverage? If this site gets any less relevant, I’ll only visit it when I need a really great laugh.

  9. FoxNewsBoycott says:

Speaking of being irrelevant, how are you? Long time no troll… This site has nothing to do with NBC, so you can shove that…

  10. I see that the new “conservatives”, otherwise known as republicans too ashamed to admit their party preference, and that have usurped the “label” conservative, are alive and stupid, and even posting on this forum. How do you get rid of these illiterate redneck scum ? With rat poison ? I just found this site so I’m a little late in announcing that January 20th or 21st during one of his inane diatribe laden rants, Fatboy, I never served my country, Beck actually treated his own wife as a slut on national tv. I think his exact words were ” I hope Obama isn’t at my house making sweet love to my wife” ( you’ll have to watch for the exact words), but that’s pretty close. El porko has slithered down to a new low level, he’ll even call his own wife a whore and an adultress to get ratings. I think we all know who the whore is though. I’m an American ex-pat living in France and unfortunately Fox News garbage is getting through over here. This is an embarrassment to the US. My site which is dedicated to any legal and peaceful way of riding the airwaves of these hateful and dangerous idiots, speaks in great detail about the metamorphisis of the American stereotype in Europe, which thanks to Fox is one of a fat white trash biggot. Airwave euthanasia is the only solution!

  11. Ben Franklin says:

That’s the spirit Tommy Chinese. The only way to achieve freedom is to kill all those who disagree with you. And if you can’t kill them with rat poison, bind them and gag them and make sure they’re never heard from again. You are AWESOME! And smart too. It’s no surprise you’re in France.

FNB, IT’S THE HYPOCRISY. Don’t you get it? How long can you hide behind “this site isn’t about MSNBC? You might gain an ounce of credibility if you’d just man up and say one time “you’re right, MSNBC is a shill for Obama.” Your intellectual dishonesty is staggering and mindblowing. How can someone who seems to be of some reasonable intelligence be so blind? I’m not saying that everything that Beck, Hannity, Rush or O’Reilly say is correct. And I think I’ve said that before, but when you’re so patently one-sided, and unable to admit or point out a single error, or wrong-headed opinion of those on the left, it reveals you to be a robotic slave to the “progressive” movement. Seriously, the left used to pick on W because he wouldn’t admit mistakes, but you’re doing the same thing.

  12. FoxNewsBoycott says:

Ben, How can MSNBC be a “shill for Obama” if they frequently call him out for not keeping campaign promises, being weak on issues, changing policies, or keeping failed policies of old? You’re obviously a shill for Fox News – saying I’m hiding behind the fact that this site is devoted to Fox News and not discussing other networks, which would only dilute efforts. I’ve repeatedly stated that there is a problem on most, if not all, networks, which you have chosen to ignore. The fact remains that this site is to point out falsehoods and sensationalistic BS from Fox News, hence the name. If you don’t want to take responsibility for starting a site to provide an alternate view, that’s your bad. Don’t blame me for your lack of effort.
