Quoted from FoxNews.com:

President Obama and Vice President Biden released their tax returns on Thursday (Tax day). They reveal that Biden and his wife, Jill, earned $330,000 in 2009, but gave just four tenths of one percent ($4,820) in cash and “in kind” contributions to charity. The Obamas did slightly better. They gave almost 6 percent of their $5.5 million joint income to charity. Much of their income came from the president’s two bestselling books.

Check the math. The amounts provided by Fox News for Joe Biden do not represent “four tenths of one percent,” but rather almost 1.5%.  Additionally, there is no mention of President Obama’s Nobel Prize donation ($1.4 million) to ten different charities, but not claiming a tax deduction for the donation. The Nobel Prize contribution would have amounted to over 25% of the $5.5 million income reported by Fox News.

So why does fox care if obama donated anything? Hell, if he made the decision to donate or not donate was “tea party” of him………according to the 9/11 principles. The tea party creedo says to be charitable, but it is fully my own right to be charitable and my decision on how much……so if obama wanted to donate 0% or 90% it was his right (according to the teaparty). So damn, fox news should be praising the man. If he was a true republican and didnt pay any taxes and donated nothing, he would be their hero.

    idiots.

  2. 25% hmmm. Did he claim the income from the Nobel Peace Prize?

Way to twist the truth. While I agree with the previous poster that it’s their choice whether they donate or not (though not donating kind of goes against their creed of “there comes a time when a person has made enough money”), these statement completely distort the facts. The Nobel Peace Prize money was not included in the $5.5 million dollars. Taken from the White House page, which gives a copy of their tax returns, “The Internal Revenue Code provides that if the recipient of the Nobel Prize directs the Nobel Committee to donate the prize income directly to charity, as the President did, the recipient does not have to recognize the prize as income on his federal income tax return. The President is not permitted to take a charitable deduction on the value of the prize since it is not included in his income.” I suggest people start doing their own research, and not believe everything you read. http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/04/15/president-obama-and-vice-president-biden-s-tax-returns
