Kim, ThanK you for writing this so I didn't have to. I am exactly in the same position that you are as an independent voter who hold my county first before a party affiliation. I also noted for Obama...To date, he has lost my vote as he simply talks a good game but now its clear its form both sides of his mouth.

I don't need the gov't telling me whats best for me..I am a big boy and can make my own decisions. I am also no big fan of Glenn Beck, but isn't this his core message. This site reeks of partisanship as most do, unfortunately..

I will do everything I can to not support a single advertiser that bans anyone for an ideological cause. I don't appreciate censorship in anyform, most especially by corporate hostage taking. I don't care if they all ban something I don't agree with. I won't support them making an obviously bad business decision in order to appease a group of people who think they should be able to tell other what they can and cannot hear.
I am an independent and have voted democratic recently, but I am so completely disgusted with this attitude of "I know what's best for YOU" that I am seeing from both sides. What it comes down to is that the citizens need to send a message, that we are allowed our freedom of thought and expression. Apparently we need to send that to our neighbors.

If you don't like what someone has to say, turn the station, or better yet...discuss it with those who do. Have civil discourse and respect.

Diversity is more than acceptance of anothers ethnicity and cultural values, it is also acceptance of another's point of view. We can disagree and still respect people. I disagree with Barack Obama on many issues but I still respect the man but more importantly I don't feel that I have the right to tell anyone else if they should or should not listen to him. It is so completely arrogant it makes me sick.

How do you justify this?

And another viewpoint. Advertisers are doing a job. They are not promoting Glenn Beck. They are promoting a product on a very popular (whether you like it or not) show. The promotion of the product, theoretically leads to more sales which leads to more product being produced and more stores being opened and more people being employed and communities benefitting and so on and so on.

Did Verizon and all of these other advertisers also pull their ads from any type of t.v movie or show that has violence in them? Are they taking a stand against overt sexuallity on television? If not, by the logic assumed here, they are 'promoting' these things, yet they are banning a show based on free speech.
I mean, it obviously is not a good 'business' decision, as Beck is a popular and well watched program. The only thing it can be is to promote an agenda and the message from the group organizing these bans is "we don't like what he says and we don't want you to hear it".

That's the American way, isn't it?

I am proud of Verizon, and the other sponsors, who have seen through the rubbish that passes for history on the Glenn Beck Show.

I find it sad that so many vulnerable people are confused and misled by his thoroughly dishonest and anything-but-scholarly
version of history.

As one recent defender of Glenn said, "It's God, guns, and glory that made this country great." I'd agree with the first, as my study of history has repeatedly found that only with the blessing of Divine Providence were Washington and other genuine heroes able to wrest a military victory from the British, but as for the rest: "guns and glory," sounds dangerous, and is.
