I find it interesting that Glenn Beck is quiet on these rumours. I’m receiving reports from thousands of concerned citizens that worry about what kind of threat this man is and where he is taking America.

I see what you’re doing here, but I’m not sure using twenty year old allegations as a means to attack Glenn Beck’s questionable messages is the right way to go. There was no evidence of rape and he was never convicted, that still means he’s innocent according to the law. It doesn’t matter what we think of him, smearing him like this isn’t what we should be doing, even if what we’re disagreeing with is his propensity for using similar methods to get his points across himself.
Is this really the best you can do with your lives? I notice that no one disputes any of the facts Beck has laid out on radio or tv. Are you afraid of the truth?

If the rumor had been a person killed and eaten, or if the victim had been a barnyard animal, or if it had been a rumor he embezzled widows using herbalife, that would have still given blubbering Beck an excuse to revel in his victimhood, but at least it would have been a good dose of his own medicine.
There is nothing parodic about a rape accusation. It’s not funny. There are too many horrible situations where rape victims are not believed. And other situations where the vindictive try to make their mark upon their targets using it, and it comes back to bite them, which I think will happen here. This is playing right into the hands of the Wingnuts with an ugly move that I am ashamed came from “our” side.

It could be true or it isn’t. I haven’t found any evidence that he raped and murdered a girl in 1990. I saw the police report but no newspaper articles from the times or anything like that. Maybe he did and it was covered up. Maybe this is a dirty smear. Upon my death I will ask God which was true, and he’ll tell me. Until then I won’t confirm or deny that Glenn Beck did in fact rape and murder a girl in 1990. You guys can have fun with this. It seems like they threw you a bone. This is probably just political. That’s just my opinion.

FNB, it’s quite true that Beck is whipping up his followers into a dangerous mob, using every vile accusation he can cook up. And the intention behind trying to hoist him on his own petard is so much more honorable as to be impossible to compare with the sickness behind his vicious, paranoiac rants.
But there is an outside concern here that wasn’t taken into account when this idea took off: as I said, there’s a huge issue with believing genuine rape victims’ accusations, and with victims of frivolous and malicious accusers. I believe this sort of “parody” is actually damaging to them.
Finally, a reason not to echo or mirror the behavior of the Beckians seems very simple to me: aren’t we supposed to be the good guys?
In any case, if this is supposed to teach Beck or his followers a lesson, it won’t. I believe it will feed his sense of paranoia and righteousness, and give him a chance to point at the left and accuse us of being evildoers.
