Sean Hannity’s Thesis Paper Hypocrisy

Sean Hannity is known for his hypocrisy, criticising what he is guilty of having done himself… Here is a transcript from his show attacking so-called smears about Bob McDonnell’s graduate school thesis paper. Keep reading below for a similar transcript of Hannity doing the same…

HANNITY: By the way, we’ve got to watch out, folks. We’ve been telling you about the lead that Bob McDonnell has in the state of Virginia; that lead is now cut in half. There’s been an all-out war declared by The Washington Post against Bob McDonnell, a solid conservative. And the effort to smear, besmirch, demonize, and impact that election is under full way here, and a lot of this has to do — well, they went through the great effort to dig up a graduate school thesis that he wrote, and they’re claiming that, well, he’s saying that “homosexuality, working women, and abortion are detrimental to traditional American families.”

McDonnell has repudiated much of the thesis during a conference call with reporters, but it doesn’t matter. I mean, it’s OK, that was, let’s see, 20 years ago, we’ll go back to opinions that he might have held at a time when he’s writing a thesis, which by design is supposed to be provocative, and yet they’re not holding Barack Obama accountable to the pastor whose church he still went to throughout the campaign until he had to get rid of the pastor. America’s chickens have come home to roost, U.S. of KKK –

HANNITY: Now if they put the same energy into — into investigating Barack Obama, I wonder if we would have had a different result in that election? You see how abusively biased the media can be? It’s unbelievable.

Perhaps he forgot that he smeared, besmirched and demonized Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton for their thesis papers, released more than 20 years ago.

HANNITY: Chapter six, the thesis. It’s a 38-year-old document that’s been rumored about, analyzed, debated, criticized, and defended. Until recently, few have read it because it was hidden away at the request of Bill Clinton’s administration for the eight years he was in office.

These 90 pages, steeped in intrigue and mystery, are the senior thesis of Hillary D. Rodham, Wellesley College class of 1969. Hillary’s thesis, elevated to mystical status from years of secrecy, is now available to anyone inclined to visit Wellesley’s archives.

It begs the question: Why was it so important to the Clintons to keep it a secret. How can the words of a 21-year-old political science major be so damaging and explosive? And most importantly, why did the Clintons ask Wellesley College to hide the thesis in 1993?

Once dubbed a Rosetta Stone, the answer may lie in the fact that it exposes the real Hillary Clinton. In her own words, it allows readers to decipher the true thinking of the former first lady and now 2008 presidential hopeful.

[...]

HANNITY: What’s the real reason behind the Clintons’ desperate attempt to have it banned? Many biographers see it as evidence of the Marxist and socialist views of the young Hillary Rodham — views that she tries to downplay depending on the political winds but clearly maintains today.

Podesta: ‘Van Has Set A Standard That Beck Would Never Impose Upon Himself’

John Podesta, the President and CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, released this statement following the resignation of Van Jones:

Van Jones is an exceptional and inspired leader who has fought to bring economic and environmental justice to communities across our country.

He has chosen to resign because he believed he was serving as a distraction to the president’s agenda. I respect that decision.

Van was working to build a common ground agenda for all Americans, and I am confident he will continue that work. Unfortunately, his critics on the right could find no common ground with him.

Clearly, Van was the subject of a right-wing smear campaign shrouded in hypocrisy. Van’s chief tormentor Glenn Beck, who spent weeks engaged in vicious name-calling, retains his perch at Fox News after calling the president a racist who has “a deep-seated hatred for white people.” Van has set a standard that Beck would never impose upon himself.

I look forward to working with Van to move our country towards a clean energy economy that empowers and lifts up all Americans.

Glenn Beck Gets Facts Wrong on So-Called ‘Czars’

Glenn Beck has been on the attack against so-called “czars” appointed by President Obama.

BECK: He has 37 czars to oversee and advise him directly. Never before have there been so many executive posts that were not confirmed by Congress and who answered only to the president.

Many of the “czars” are long-standing positions, work for congress (Elizabeth Warren), or have had their confirmation held up by Republicans (Cass Sunstein).

The best part may have been when the following graphic was put up to put faces to the “czars” …you’ll notice that one face, that of Senate-confirmed John Holdren, was included twice.

Fox News’ Unfair and Unbalanced Health Care Reporting

From August 24 through August 28, 2009, Fox News aired 22 clips that were critical of, or opposed to health care reform efforts supported by Democrats. During that same period of time, Fox News showed ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH clips that were positive, or showing people supporting health care reform.

So, Fox News supporters, where’s the “fair and balanced” reporting you’re so brainwashed into  repeating, ad nauseum? Don’t bother bringing any other media outlet into the discussion… This is about Fox News’ obvious disregard for reporting both sides of the story.

Law Firm Moves Against ‘Glenn Beck 1990′ Parody Site

As you’re probably well aware if you’ve visited in the past couple weeks, or were practically anywhere else online, there is a satirical site devoted to a meme created to show Beck’s lack of journalistic integrity. Apparently, a law firm (Cowan, Debaets, Abrahams & Sheppard, LLP) is coming to his defense.

Parody/satire is a protected form of free speech and the rumors are exactly that. Disclaimers aside, nobody, in their right mind, actually believes that Glenn Beck raped, nor murdered a young girl in 1990. The accusation is so groundless as to be ridiculous. Had the rumor involved anything less, it may actually have been believable. Unfortunately, that’s not what the law firm is charging… The law firm in question has contacted the aggregate site for the rumor with a complaint regarding the use of their domain, which contains Glenn Beck’s name.

Obviously, the average Glenn Beck fan’s IQ is not high enough to understand that nobody is actually accusing Beck of rape and murder, nobody thinks rape and murder are funny (except Glenn Beck, joking about poisoning Nancy Pelosi), and it’s not a representation of anybody other than Glenn Beck, because he uses this style of fallacious reasoning without a disclaimer. According to the law firm, the average Glenn Beck fan may be stupid enough as to confuse the domain in question with the “Glenn Beck” trademark.

If the owner of the domain name mentioned is forced to give up the right to the domain name, there are two backups ready, which can be accessed at GB1990.com and GB1990.net.

Fox News Warns Democrats About Patriotic Music

Various Fox News personalities have been fixating on what they call an attempt to “kill” their patriotic music. Here is what they had to say, then check the whole truth below.

BRET BAIER: “[T]he House of Representatives today faced the music and reversed a decision to kill the patriotic tunes callers hear when they’re put on hold.”

SEAN HANNITY: “Now, up until now, you probably have been enjoying lovely patriotic tunes. Well, that is until Nancy Pelosi had anything to say about it. Under the current Democratic leadership, patriotic music was replaced with smooth jazz elevator music.”

STEVE DOOCY: “[I]n what has got to go down as one of the most boneheaded moves of the summer, which is now concluding as we approach Labor Day, apparently Nancy Pelosi and the House leadership had said … we’re going to have a test project where, for three weeks, we’re going to get rid of the patriotic music.”

So, what’s really going on? There is no conspiracy to eliminate patriotic music. House Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Daniel Beard’s spokesman Jeff Ventura had this to say:

The music was changed during recess as a pilot program in an attempt to offer offices a choice of hold music. [...]

This had nothing to do with the leadership — not in the beginning or the final outcome.

Fox News Accuses Obama of ‘Indoctrinating Students’

People associated with Fox News, such as Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Michelle Malkin, are advancing the theory that President Obama‘s back-to-school speech is an attempt to “indoctrinate” America’s children, whatever that means… Keep in mind that it is not mandatory for schools to show the speech.

GLENN BECK: “Gee, who is having indoctrination next week? Oh, yeah, that’s right, the president”

SEAN HANNITY: “it seems very close to indoctrination”

MONICA CROWLEY: “just when you think this administration can’t get any more surreal and Orwellian, here they come to indoctrinate our kids”

MICHELLE MALKIN: “the left has always used kids in public schools as guinea pigs and as junior lobbyists for their social liberal agenda.”

Not only that, but The Fox Nation web site presents the following, today, asking if people are going to keep their kids home from school the day of the speech.

The real purpose of Obama’s back-to-school speech? Simply to promote the idea of “persisting and succeeding in school” and the “imoprtance of education” …wow, sounds like something the devil would say… riiiiight… What this suggests is that Fox News does not agree with the President in wanting your children to be educated. Where would they get their viewers?

Of course, these Fox News personalities cannot provide anything more than pure speculation and paranoia. Keep that in mind the next time someone claims that Fox News is all about the truth.

Response Received From Binder & Binder

Visitor submitted response from Binder & Binder:

Hi ____, my name is Dick Summer. I’m the guy responsible for Binder and Binder’s commercials. I fully agree with you concerning Glen Beck’s comments, and I have asked Fox News to remove our commercials from his program.

Here’s our problem. Our commercial buy on Fox News is contracted under a system called ROS, that’s run of schedule. What that means is we buy a certain number of commercials, and the network schedules them where they see fit. The big buck guys can afford to buy specific shows. We can’t.

So, Fox may or may not honor my request to remove our spots from any particular program. If they don’t, I can of course, not renew at the end of our broadcast contract, but not before. As with any contract, one party can’t simply decide not to fulfill its obligations to the other…

Beyond explaining the situation to you, there’s not much else I can say, except, believe it or not I’m glad you decided to write. As a former broadcaster I know that most people wouldn’t bother, and that’s an important reason why there is so much junk on the air.

Since Binder & Binder was included in September‘s Boycott of the Month, and the focus was on Glenn Beck‘s sponsors, they will be replaced by another current (as of 8/31/09) Glenn Beck sposnor.

Glenn Beck Loses 11 More Sponsors

More companies have bailed on Glenn Beck‘s show on Fox News Channel, including big names such as Discover, Capital One, Infinity and Mercedes-Benz!

Eleven new companies whose ads were recently seen during Beck’s program—Binder & Binder, Capital One, The Dannon Company, Discover, HSBC, ICAN Benefit Group Insurance, Infiniti, Jelmar (manufacturer of CLR All-Purpose Cleaner), Jordan McKenna Debt Counseling Network, Mercedes-Benz and Simplex Healthcare (creator of the Diabetes Care Club) —have pledged to ColorOfChange.org to take steps to ensure that their ads don’t run on Beck’s show. Fifty-seven companies have now committed not to support Beck’s show since ColorOfChange.org launched its campaign four weeks ago after the Fox News Channel host called President Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

“We applaud those companies that have recently pulled their support from Beck,” said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org. “There are at least 57 companies who will not tolerate Beck’s race-baiting comments and we will continue to reach out to those who are still supporting him.”

Comments from advertisers recently distancing themselves from Beck:
