Sean Hannity, often times factually deficient, made the following statement about the future of Social Security…

HANNITY: How does this impact? Two bits of news came out today that really scared me on top of all the bad economic news that we got last week that I’ll ask you about in a second.

Max Baucus says Social Security could face default within two years. He said that yesterday. And we have hundreds of dealers have dumped the Cash for Clunkers program. They’re not getting paid.

Sean Hannity attributed the “default” statement to Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) when, in fact, it was Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL) who made the statement. And, Bachus’ staff had clarified that he meant to say that Social Security could face a “deficit,” not “default.”

  1. Hannity wasn’t the one who misquoted — it was the senator who said default and then changed it to deficit. In fact, while Obama is handing out the cash for clunkers (4 billion), he is planning to cut Medicare by $200 billion!!!! What exactly are his priorities???????

  2. FoxNewsBoycott says:

Celeste, As is clearly stated, Hannity “quoted” the wrong person and did not include the correction in his “reporting” …The rest of your comment is off topic.

  3. big deal … you commie lie so much you think it is your personal domain

  4. FoxNewsBoycott says:

Jim, Nice. An ignorant generalization on top of childish name calling…

  5. People do make mistakes, but I can’t see how Hannity made this one to be honest. Not only to get the person wrong but then to quote the wrong quote anyway? You’d think these people would be checking and double checking whatever they have to say if they’re going to be talking in public.
