As reported last week, Rupert Murdoch‘s News International will admit liability in the phone hacking incidents in the U.K. It has now come to light that Murdoch’s News Corporation, may have sought to hack 9/11 victims’ phones in the U.S. Apparently, Murdoch’s News Corp., the U.S. arm of his media empire, which owns Fox News, is in crisis mode.

A law enforcement official says the FBI has opened an investigation into allegations that media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. sought to hack into the phones of Sept. 11 victims. The official spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

According to the AP, this is a result of U.S. Rep. Peter King and several other members of Congress writing to FBI Director Robert Mueller, demanding an investigation.

Fox News host Eric Bolling

Now that Glenn Beck’s show is no longer on Fox News, many people may think that the ratio of hot air to facts would improve, but the show that filled Beck’s time slot shall prove differently. Fox News host Eric Bolling who appeared on Beck’s replacement show, “The Five,” along with a panel including former Bush spokeswoman Dana Perino, made in incredible announcement, similar to Rudy Giuliani’s claim that, “we had no domestic attacks under Bush.”

BOLLING: America was certainly safe between 2000 and 2008. I don’t remember any attacks on American soil during that period of time.

Of course, there was that thing that happened in New York on September 11th, 2001, which was during Bush’s first term as President. It was only one of the largest attacks on American soil in U.S. history. It’s a simple thing to overlook.

Someone had to have corrected him on the show, right? Wrong.

Not even Dana Perino uttered a peep. But, really, who would expect her to? (See GOP Connections)

Fox News contributor Monica Crowley was a guest on The O’Reilly Factor, during which she stated, “[a]fter 9-11, President Bush and Vice President Cheney had a 100 percent perfect track record in keeping the homeland safe from an Islamic terrorist attack.”

The problem with that statement can be explained by the following incidents that took place after the events on 9/11.

2002 attack against El Al ticket counter at LAX. In July 2002, Hesham Mohamed Hadayet opened fire at an El Al Airlines ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airport, killing two people and wounding four others before being shot dead. A 2004 Justice Department report stated that Hadayet’s case had been “officially designated as an act of international terrorism.”

2006 UNC SUV attack. In March 2006, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill graduate Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar drove an SUV into an area of campus, striking nine pedestrians. According to reports, Taheri-azar said he acted because he wanted to “avenge the deaths or murders of Muslims around the world.” Taheri-azar also reportedly stated in a letter: “I was aiming to follow in the footsteps of one of my role models, Mohammad Atta, one of the 9/11/01 hijackers, who obtained a doctorate degree.”

2001 shoe bomber attempted attack. In June 2008, then-Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff described Reid’s December 2001 attempt “to blow up a trans-Atlantic plane with a shoe bomb” as an attempt to “carry out terrorist operations for Al-Qaeda.”

Of course, Crowley failed to mention the number of terrorist-related deaths in the U.S. that occurred in each President’s first year in office – Bush: 3000+/- on 9/11, Obama: 14 (1 in Little Rock, 13 at Fort Hood).

White House Press Secretary under George W. Bush and current Fox News contributor Dana Perino needs a history lesson on 9/11. While trying to classify the Ft. Hood shooting as a terrorist attack, Perino makes the crazy assertion that “we did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush’s term.”

With the new “zero tolerance” policy for errors, Sean Hannity surely corrected Perino, right? Wrong.

PERINO: And we had a terrorist attack on our country. And we should call it what it is. Because we need to face up to it so that we can prevent it from happening again.

HANNITY: I agree with you. And why won’t they say what you just so simply said?

PERINO: They want to do all of their investigations. I don’t know. All of the thinking that goes into it. But we did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush’s term. I hope they’re not looking at this politically. I do think we ought it to the American people to call it what it is.

Glenn Beck is known for two things related to the tragedy of 9/11 – 1) he stated that he hates 9/11 victims’ families and 2) used it to promote his 9/12 protest. Beck has now compared health care reform to 9/11. The following are a couple quotes from Beck about Osama bin Laden.

Here is Beck talking, recently, about Osama bin Laden:

BECK: In the 1990s, I was on the radio warning people about Osama bin Laden, not because I was some super-smart genius. I just listened to the man’s words. I really believed him. But that wasn’t the top of the priority list in America — no, no, no. We were dealing with the fat interns and the definition of is, and I like the rest of America went back to sleep on the terrorist threat.

Here was Beck talking about Osama bin Laden in 1998:

BECK: Now, another newspaper in Pakistan says that it received a statement for the–from the spokesperson for Azma bin Ladin [sic]. Is that is name? Bin Ladin? Bin Ladeen? Bin jelly bean, green bean, Mr. Clean? I love him. He’s hot. He says he’s ready for war with the U.S. Oh yes? Thank you Mr. Baked Bean.

A respected newspaper quotes the statement as follows: “The war has just started, and Americans should wait for the answer.” Now, Mr. Ozma Dig-my-scene, I don’t even know what the question was! Was the question “is my turban on too tight?” Yes! I think it is. The blood’s not pumping around the whole brain. Loosen the turban, Mr. Clean, dig my scene. Oh yes, let’s look at the latrine.

Wow, wasn’t that prophetic…

Glenn Beck is promoting, politicizing and capitalizing on the deaths of thousands of Americans on September 11, 2001 with an upcoming event dubbed the 9/12 Project. Originally planned as a day of patriotism and unity, like that found after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, the so-called “grassroots” style events promoted by Glenn Beck have become anything but. Not only are the events now promoted as an outright attack on the Obama Administration, but it’s also come to light that it’s not a true grassroots movement at all.

The web site for the event, 912dc.org, is owned by FreedomWorks, led by former corporate lobbyist and Republican Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX). FreedomWorks is providing the funding and organization that makes this event possible, while Glenn Beck provides the promotion. You’ll notice many names similar to those found associated with the Tea Party astroturfing.

– Gold Sponsor Tea Party Patriots is a website run by FreedomWorks staffers. When Tea Party Patriots list serv members objected to the 9/12 march symbol, they were rebuffed and told that all final decisions were made by FreedomWorks.

– Gold Sponsor Our Country Deserves Better is a Republican PAC that also operates the Tea Party Express, a bus tour arriving in DC for the 9/12 march. Our Country Deserves Better/Tea Party Express, which has ran an advertisement comparing Obama to Hitler, is managed by the GOP consulting firm Russo, Marsh & Rogers.

– Bronze Sponsors The Heartland Institute and the Competitive Enterprise Institute are phony think-tanks dedicated to churning out academic-appearing reports to discredit global warming. Like FreedomWorks, both organizations are funded by David and Charles Koch of the Koch Industries oil empire, one of the largest privately held companies in the world.

– Bronze Sponsor American Conservative Union is run by David Keene, a lobbyist for a firm that represents private health care companies, including the insurer HealthFirst.

– Bronze Sponsor The Senate Conservatives Fund is a Republican Party PAC run by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC).

Other sponsors include The National Association for Rural Landowners, who made the case for a secession, followed by a violent civil war in a YouTube video; and FreeRepublic, a right wing forum that gave platform for the Holocaust museum shooter’s writings. And I really didn’t — all the 3,000 victims’ families, I don’t hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I’m just like, ‘Oh, shut up.’ I’m so sick of them. Because they’re always complaining. And we did our best for them. And again, it’s only about ten.

Wanda Sykes was the featured comic at the White House Correspondents Dinner and she had some choice words for Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Sykes brought up the fact that Hannity has not lived up to his waterboarding pledge and joked that Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker on 9/11.

“Sean Hannity said that he was going to get waterboarded for charity for our armed forces. He hasn’t done it yet I see. Talking about he can take a waterboarding, please,ok you might be able to get waterboarded by somebody he knows and trusts, but let somebody from Pakistan waterboard him, or let Keith Olbermann waterboard him. He can’t take a waterboarding. I can break Sean Hannity by giving him a middle seat in coach.”

Never short of comedic material, Glenn Beck doesn’t short us on laughs this time around… In one breath, Beck’s actor portraying Thomas Paine makes a comparison of Obama and his economic policies to the bombing of Pearl Harbor as well as the planes crashing into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

“Your complacency will only aid and abet our national suicide. Remember, they wouldn’t dare bomb Pearl Harbor, but they did. They wouldn’t dare drive two planes into the World Trade Center, but they did. They wouldn’t dare pilot a plane through the most sophisticated air defenses in the world and crash into the Pentagon, but they did. They wouldn’t dare pass the largest spending bill in history, in open defiance of the will of the people*, but they did!”

What would the reasoning be behind such an absurd statement? Desperation. It’s a fear mongering tactic to try to gain support for their Tea Party protests and there is sure to be more to come as we get closer to April 15 and they realize that the streets will be as empty as their threats.
