Atheists Receive Death Threats Thanks to Fox News

On Fox News’ Facebook page, a post has been removed… Why? Because it fanned the flames of ignorance and hate against Atheists, who subsequently received death threats numbering in the hundreds or thousands… All because Blair Scott, Communications Director for American Atheists, appeared on the Fox News program America Live with Megyn Kelly late last month to discuss his complaint about the so-called “9/11 Cross.”

Stay classy Fox News fans!

On a positive note, Fox News did remove the post and comments, issuing this statement:

“We make every attempt to keep our Facebook page as safe as possible. And we take immediate steps to remove all hateful and dangerous language.”

Unfortunately, the damage was done, captured and shared across the web… here are some screen shots:

Fox News Incorrectly Names Co-President of Atheist Group

It’s not uncommon for Fox News to make typos and air mistakes, intentional or not, and their religious bias is hardly a secret. But this one is more than a simple mistake. In a piece about an atheist group, the following graphic was included, which incorrectly names the co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Her real name is Annie Laurie Gaylor, not what is shown below!

Richard Dawkins Takes on Bill O’Reilly’s ‘Warped Logic’

You’ve got to enjoy a clip of a Bill O’Reilly interview in which the guest is prepared for O’Reilly belligerent ranting and raving. Between calling Dawkins a Fascist and that there are people much smarter than him who disagree with Dawkins’ point of view, O’Reilly really comes off as a jerk, not a “journalist.” But, really, that’s nothing new…

DAWKINS: Science is, at least, working on the problem.

[...]

O’REILLY: “Science doesn’t advance the human condition in any moralistic way”

Look at Dawkins’ reaction to that statement (see 1:45 to 1:52). Of course, science has little to do with morality, aside from allowing us to make informed and ethical decisions, but has advanced the human condition in many ways i.e. sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health. Also, check out Dawkins telling O’Reilly to stop shouting at him at about 3:50 into the video.
