Sean Hannity Makes Comments, Church Receives Threats

President Obama and family visited Shiloh Baptist Church in the District for Easter Sunday services. FNC’s Sean Hannity aired a clip of Rev. Wallace Charles Smith giving a speech where he denounced hate speech in talk radio. Hannity proceeded to compare Rev. Smith to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s former pastor and questioning Obama’s connection to each. Since then, Rev. Smith’s church began receiving threats…

The Rev. Wallace Charles Smith said the church has received more than 100 threats since Fox News channel’s Sean Hannity aired a tape Monday of a speech Smith gave in January 2010 at Eastern University in Saint Davids, Pa.

“We received a fax that had the image of a monkey with a target across is face,” Smith said. “My secretary has received telephone calls that have been so vulgar until she has had to hang up.”

Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton have all worshipped at Shiloh Baptist Church.

Attempted Cop Killer is Glenn Beck Fan

In the early morning hours of July 19, 2010, 45-year-old ex-felon Byron Williams allegedly became an attempted cop killer. California Highway Patrol officers were able to apprehend Williams after a lengthy gun fight on an Oakland, CA freeway. Only two of the ten CHP officers on scene were injured.

AFFIDAVIT: [Williams] “stated that his intention was to start a revolution by traveling to San Francisco and killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU.”

What does this have to do with Fox News?

Byron Williams is a devoted follower of Glenn Beck.

WILLIAMS: I would have never started watching Fox News if it wasn’t for the fact that Beck was on there. And it was the things that he did, it was the things he exposed that blew my mind.

According to Media Matters, Glenn Beck has attacked the Tides Foundation 29 times on his Fox News show.

Beck, it turned out, had attacked Tides 29 times on his Fox News show in the year-and-a-half leading up to the shooting.

Now, in exclusive interviews and written correspondence with journalist John Hamilton, Williams speaks for himself. He asks Hamilton to be his “media advocate” and repeatedly instructs him to watch specific broadcasts of Beck’s show for information on the conspiracy theory that drove him over the edge: an intricate plot involving Barack Obama, philanthropist George Soros, a Brazilian oil company, and the BP disaster.

Williams also points to other media figures — right-wing propagandist David Horowitz, and Internet conspiracist and repeated Fox News guest Alex Jones — as key sources of information to inspire his “revolution.”

In a separate exchange with Examiner.com’s Ed Walsh, Williams sought to defend Beck from “Obama and the liberals,” whom he said are afraid of Beck “because he often exposes things that are simply forbidden in news.” Williams said that Beck advocates non-violence and that he had already researched the conspiracy theories that informed his alleged plot — before seeing them “confirm[ed]” on Beck’s show.

In an interview at the Santa Rita Jail, Williams confirms his affinity for Beck and references, on numerous occasions, Beck’s conspiracy theory involving the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and connections to President Obama and George Soros.

WILLIAMS: I don’t think he’s a natural newscaster, you know what I mean? I look at it more like a schoolteacher on TV, you know? He’s got that big chalkboard and those little stickers, the decals. I like the way he does it.

Williams refers to those connected to this conspiracy theory (Obama, Soros, Petrobras, etc.) as Crime, Inc. So did Beck on June 21, 2010, in one of the videos Willaims repeatedly referenced.

President Obama and Vice President Biden released their tax returns on Thursday (Tax day). They reveal that Biden and his wife, Jill, earned $330,000 in 2009, but gave just four tenths of one percent ($4,820) in cash and “in kind” contributions to charity. The Obamas did slightly better. They gave almost 6 percent of their $5.5 million joint income to charity. Much of their income came from the president’s two bestselling books.

Check the math. The amounts provided by Fox News for Joe Biden do not represent “four tenths of one percent,” but rather almost 1.5%. Additionally, there is no mention of President Obama’s Nobel Prize donation ($1.4 million) to ten different charities, but not claiming a tax deduction for the donation. The Nobel Prize contribution would have amounted to over 25% of the $5.5 million income reported by Fox News.

There’s no doubt that President Obama didn’t expect soft ball questions yesterday when he went on Fox News Channel’s’ Special Report to be interviewed about health care reform by Bret Baier, but the lack of respect displayed by the Fox News personality was astounding!

As Obama pointed out, Baier repeated interrupted him while trying to answer the host’s questions. Not once, not five, ten, or a dozen times. 16 Times! Incredibly, Baier said that Obama was dodging his questions, to which Obama responded, “Well, I’m trying to answer your questions and you keep on interrupting.”

Sean Hannity, speaking with former Bush adviser Nicolle Wallace, made an absurdly ridiculous claim, which, of course, was not refuted by Wallace, nor anyone else at Fox News.

HANNITY: George Bush who you worked for did not play golf while this country was at war. He didn’t want the families of loved ones serving, well, that they may have lost the loved ones seeing him on a golf course.

WALLACE: Yes, I mean…

HANNITY: He seemed to be far more in touch.

Remember, “We must stop the terror. I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Thank you. Now watch this drive.” and all the time spent in Crawford?

It’s been suggested that it wasn’t the war that made Bush cut down on his golfing, but rather doctor’s orders. Of course, two months after Bush said he quit playing golf (2003) he spent Columbus Day playing with “three long-time buddies” and also attended a golf fundraiser for John McCain in 2008. Condoleezza Rice; however, didn’t give up her game – where was Hannity to call her out-of-touch in 2008?

Fox News Cut Away From Obama Q&A With House Republicans

President Obama held a Q & A session with the Republican members of Congress at the GOP House Issues Conference, during which he addressed many falsehoods related to health care, the budget, taxes, etc. All cable news networks covered the session, but Fox News was the only channel to cut it off with 20 minutes left. Apparently The Live Desk co-host Trace Gallagher thought Obama was “at times being a little bit combative” and that “there was a little bit of lecturing there.”

House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), and Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) held a “Republican Response” press conference after the question and answer session with Obama. Not surprising, Fox News Channel covered the entire thing, including Karl Rove’s commentary prior to the press conference.

KILMEADE: I did not think the President was going to do this. He said, let’s just remember what I got when I walked in the door. What I had is after eight years of tax cuts, unfunded prescription drug plans and two wars without financing, I found myself in a mountain of debt essentially. But what he also found was 50 plus months of economic growth going into that. He also found between 5 and 7 percent unemployment. President Bush had it under 5 percent during those times.

Reality called and left a message – economic growth and employment were both going down before Obama took office. Additionally, unemployment was at 7.7 in Jan ’09, not between 5 and 7 percent.
