Sean Penn Speaks Out Against Cheney, O’Reilly & Hannity

Sean Penn recently wrote for The Huffington Post about the Obama’s decisions about holding Bush Administration officials accountable and to shake President Chavez’s hand.

“The Cheneys, down to the O’Reillys and Hannitys and Limbaughs, effectively hate the principles upon which we were founded. They are among the greatest cowards in all of American history. I applaud an American President who’s tough enough…to smile.”

O’Reilly Tries To Rewrite Nixon History

Discussing the Obama/Chavez handshake with Alan Colmes, Bill O’Reilly attempts to rewrite history concerning Nixon meeting and shaking hands with Mao Zedong.

COLMES: Well, first of all, this shows — first of all, what do you, ignore the guy? When George W. Bush was at the UN and asked, “Will you ever — will you talk to Ahmadinejad if you’re in the same room?” “No, I won’t talk to him” — like a 5-year-old. What do you, ignore somebody standing right next to you? Do we — because he touched him, put his hand on his shoulder, shook his hand? Do these people have a problem with Mao and Nixon? And of course, you worked for Richard Nixon. I mean, Nixon goes to China, do you have a problem with –
O’REILLY: It was Zhou and Nixon. Mao was not involved.
COLMES: There was –
O’REILLY: Yeah, Zhou.
COLMES: Did you have a problem with looking into Putin’s eyes and seeing his soul? Did you have a problem with any of the other –
O’REILLY: All right, but — OK, all of those are valid points, as long as you realize it was Zhou Enlai, not Mao Zedong.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words…

O’Reilly Comments About Waterboarding Guest

Bill O’Reilly had Newsday columnist Ellis Henican on his show where they debated waterboarding and torture. Bill-O also said he’d waterboard someone 1000 times to save a life… The question is, would Bill-O allow himself to be waterboarded 1000 times to save someone else’s life…

HENICAN: You’re coming out for torture now?
O’REILLY: Torture, my [bleeped].
HENICAN: Torture? Torture?
O’REILLY: Bleep that word. All right, Ellis, calm down. We’ll waterboard Ellis in a moment.

Jesse Watters Confronts GE Execs at Shareholders’ Meeting

The O’Reilly Factor producer Jesse Watters, apparently a GE shareholder, attended a meeting in order to confront GE executives about alleged media bias concerning MSNBC and Keith Olbermann. Known for his tactics of ambushing and harassment, Watters had Fox News cameras waiting, but didn’t identify himself as an employee of Fox News.

Why does O’Reilly and his ilk need to sink so low when they claim their ratings are so high?

Bill O’Reilly Excited About Gay Idol Kiss

I don’t watch American Idol, but apparently Bill O’Reilly does. And, apparently, one of the contestants is gay. And, apparently, Bill O’Reilly embarrassed and upset with this.

To O’Reilly, these images have his heart all aflutter, because they are “embarrassing.” Insanely, O’Reilly says this out of concern for the show. He asks his guest, Margaret Hoover, “Will these pictures have an effect on this program, which is a cultural phenomenon in America?” Hoover, because she’s apparently spent more than a week on this planet, says, “No, I do not,”

O’Reilly Lies About Contacting ThinkProgress

An update to the ThinkProgress story in which a writer was ambushed and harassed by an O’Reilly Factor producer, shows Bill O’Reilly caught in another lie…

Neither I nor anyone else at ThinkProgress ever received any sort of request from anyone at Fox News. O’Reilly’s producers did ask CAP CEO John Podesta to appear on his show after his ambush of me.

Roger Ebert Mocks Bill O’Reilly

An open letter from movie critic Roger Ebert to Bill O’Reilly on SunTimes.com thanks O’Reilly for including The Chicago Sun-Times on his list of newspapers on his “Hall of Shame.” Ebert goes on explain how he’s happy not to be in the favor of  “a man who turns red and starts screaming when anyone disagrees with him.”

“Bill, I am concerned that you have been losing touch with reality recently. Did you really say you are more powerful than any politician?”

UPS Claims They Did Not Boycott O’Reilly’s Show

Keith Olbermann reported that UPS has backed out as an advertiser of the BGill O’Reilly’s Fox News show, O’Reilly Factor in response to the harassment of Amanda Terkel of ThinkProgress.org. UPS has issued a statement that it has not, but has stated that they do not have any pending advertising plans with O’Reilly’s show.

“We are writing to clarify our statement of last Friday because it appears to have been misinterpreted. UPS has not ‘pulled’ any advertising from Fox News nor has the company taken a position on the ‘ThinkProgress’ campaign. Our intent on Friday simply was to note that UPS does not have any pending advertising plans with the O’Reilly show.”

Bill O’Reilly Boycotting Sean Penn Films

Sean Penn’s political opinions disturb the oh so sensitive Bill O’Reilly so much that O’Reilly stated that he would not see any of Penn’s movies. However, O’Reilly does admit that Sean Penn is a great actor.

“I’m just not going to give a guy who gives aid and comfort to people like (Iran president Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez and Saddam Hussein, when he was alive, my 10 bucks. That’s my right as an American.”

Bill O’Reilly Threatens Not to Visit Spain. Spain Rejoices.

Look out Spain. Bill O’Reilly is taking you on… by not visiting you anymore… Apparently, if you have an opinion about the actions of certain Republican politicians in the U.S., Bill O’Reilly will take his toys and run home. Too bad…

“So here’s the deal, Spain,” intoned O’Reilly, as if Spain cared, “If this goes forward, you’ll be insulting America.” And, the money shot: “Unless this action is condemned by Spanish Prime Minister Zapatero, then I am not going to that country.”

ThinkProgress Writer Ambushed by O’Reilly Producer!

Amanda Terkel, a writer for ThinkProgress.org, recounts her recent involvement in an incident in which she was followed, harassed and ambushed by Jesse Watters, a producer working on behalf of Bill O’Reilly. The basis for the harassment was Terkel’s reporting on the hyprocracy of Bill O’Reilly being slated to speak at an event hosted by the Alexa Foundation, a group commited to supporting rape survivors. The following is a quote from Bill O’Reilly:

Now Moore, Jennifer Moore, 18, on her way to college. She was 5-foot-2, 105 pounds, wearing a miniskirt and a halter top with a bare midriff. Now, again, there you go. So every predator in the world is gonna pick that up at two in the morning. She’s walking by herself on the West Side Highway, and she gets picked up by a thug. All right. Now she’s out of her mind, drunk.
