Shepard Smith / DHS Report Timeline

Here’s a little time line that shows the progression of events leading up to many conservatives and right wing media personalities attacking Fox NewsShepard Smith.

  1. Department of Homeland Security releases report on right-wing extremists
  2. Conservatives blast Obama and Napolitano for ordering report
  3. Shepard Smith explains that the reports were ordered by Bush Administration and there was a left-wing report as well
  4. Several right-wing extremist related murders occur making national headlines
  5. Shepard Smith brings the DHS report back to light showing it was justified and
  6. Shepard Smith also provides examples of hate mail received
  7. Conservatives attack Shepard Smith and call for him to be fired

It’s amazing how blatant these nuts are in trying to supress the truth.

Conservatives Want Shepard Smith Fired For Accurate Reporting

Fox News’ Shepard Smith, who accurately reported on the Department of Homeland Security report on right-wing extremists, is now under attack by conservatives.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: “For liberals to now claim that the atmosphere is somehow more violently anti-Obama is simply preposterous.” Limbaugh also said Smith was “whining and moaning and complaining about emails.” After stating that he, too, got “vile, sick emails,” Limbaugh said, “Shep, you got nothing on anybody out there.”

Atlas Shrugs blogger PAMELA GELLER: Shep, don’t preach to us about anger. This from a guy who hit a reporter with his car as she saved a parking space. He was arrested for it too. (Above photo is Smith’s mugshot) Yup. And who can forget his leftist asshattery last month, when Fox anchor Shepard Smith, on a post-broadcast Webcast, lost it when discussing his opposition to waterboarding, etc — bellowing: “We are America!” (slamming the table) “I don’t give a rat’s ass if it helps. We are AMERICA! We do not f—ing torture!!” He has got to go.

WorldNetDaily’s JOE KOVACS: Ironically, Smith himself allegedly engaged in activity some might deem questionable. As WND previously reported, during the presidential election fiasco in November 2000, Smith was arrested at the Florida Capitol for allegedly driving his Mazda Millenia into another reporter who was standing in a parking space she attempted to save for a friend. The victim, freelance journalist Maureen Walsh of Tallahassee, was hospitalized and released later the same day with bruises on her knees and legs.

On Michelle Malkin’s blog, HotAir – ALLAHPUNDIT: hamfisted attempt to draw a straight line between dopey ‘Hussein’ invective and the sort of decades-long dementia displayed by the Jew-loathing nut who pulled a shotgun in the Holocaust Museum today. (And who, by the way, hated neoconservatives generally and the GOP’s last two nominees for president in particular.) I don’t know how else to read this clip except as Shep warning America that his own viewership is teeming with would-be presidential assassins. If he truly believes that, why doesn’t he quit? How can his conscience stand it?

Shepard Smith: Viewers Emails ‘Out There in a Scary Place’

Thankfully, the voice of reason at Fox News, Shepard Smith, is still around who had this to say about the Holocaust Museum killing and the radical emails Fox News receives from viewers, which he says are “out there in a scary place.”

Fox News Limits Reporting on Holocaust Museum Shooting

A day after the shooting at the Washington DC Holocaust Museum, it appears that Fox News has made the conscious decision to limit its reporting on the incident. Apparently, they only mentioned “Holocaust” and “van Brunn” three times during Prime Time. Three. From TVeyes.com for the previous 21 hours:

As of 10 a.m., the totals looked like this:

CNN: at least 168 mentions.

MSNBC: at least 121 mentions.

Fox News: at least 89 mentions.

The question is why? Is it because Fox News is embarassed by their incorrectly critical reporting of the Homeland Security reports on right-wing extremists? Is it because the shooter is not Muslim, but rather had ties to the Klu Klux Klan?

Apparently gay penguins were more important.

DHS Report Haunts Fox News

If you recall, Fox News was upset about the Department of Homeland Security report on right-wing extremists that, as it turned out, was ordered by the Bush Administration.

Fast forward to today, in the wake of George Tiller‘s murder, which was committed by a pro-life Christian activist. We’re inundated by headlines and articles about the shooting that took place at the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. The alleged murderer, terrorist if you will, was James Wenneker von Brunn, an alleged white supremest who, apparently, has connections to anti-government and hate groups. In other words, another right-wing extremist.

Shepard Smith Reports Truth About DHS Reports

Contrary to what other Fox News personalities are claiming ( i.e. the Obama administration is targeting right wing groups), Shepard Smith shows some journalistic integrity and steps away from the blame game.

Smith: So if this bulletin from April 7 looks at the right-wing groups, is there a bulletin that looks at left-wing groups as well?

Herridge: Yeah, we were able to obtain that bulletin as well. It came out in January, and didn’t get — there it is — didn’t get the same attention. It looked specifically at groups like the Earth Liberation Front, or ELF, groups that in the opinion of Homeland Security, in the future will try and attack economic targets and specifically use cyber-attacks, because they see that is sympatico, or in concert with some of their other beliefs.

So there are two assessments. The one on the left, the one on the right is the one that’s getting the attention because of the leak.

… I would point out that both of these assessments, Shep, were commissioned under the Bush administration. It takes some time to do them. They only came out after he left office.

Sean Hannity Wrong About DHS Report

Sean Hannity and Fox News, though it’s nothing new, are blaming the Obama administration for Department of Homeland Security reports focusing on “right-wing groups.”

  1. The same reports were ordered by President Bush
  2. The reports focus on both left-wing and right-wing (violent) extremist groups
  3. Bush appointees agree with assessing such threats

And, of course Hannity, not missing an opportunity to repeat the mantra brings up two totally unrelated topics (Bill Aires & Rev. Wright) when addressing Barack Obama.

“What do you think of that interpretation, especially coming from a guy that started his political career in the home of an unrepentant terrorist who bombed the Pentagon and capital and sat in Reverend Wright’s church for 20 years?”
