FoxNation Terror Attack Fear Mongering

While Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) did ask Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair about the “likelihood of another terrorist-attempted attack on the U.S.,” and Blair did reply that the “priority is certain,” the headline and graphic posted on Fox News’ site, FoxNation.com, was arguably misleading and of the fear mongering variety…

1. The question was about the likelihood of an attempted attack, 2. the response was that an attempt is thought to be certain, 3. the three to six month time line in the question is fairly typical and 4. why the need to invoke the image of 9/11 when there have been numerous “terrorist-attempted attack[s]” on the U.S. that would have been more accurate to depict? Or, show the the senator and/or intelligence chiefs from the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. They decided not to use a photo of an attempted attack that occurred under Obama’s watch… That wouldn’t be yellow enough for Fox News’ “journalism.”

At the time of this post, MSNBC.com and CNN.com both had photos of the intelligence chiefs answering Feinstein’s question, which is an accurate depiction. FoxNews.com did not have a photo accompanying their article. FoxNation.com was just absurd, like usual, stirring up the emotions and hateful comments (i.e. “If this terror event does happen (and I hope it does not) can they at least take out the White House & congress?”). FoxNation.com was not alone in the headline usage, however – MSNBC.com had a similar one: “Al-Qaeda ‘certain’ to attack U.S. within months.” CNN.com’s headline was better: “Intelligence chiefs: Terror attempts on U.S. ‘certain.’”

Glenn Beck Spreads Lies and Fear About Cars.Gov Site

Emails about the cash for clunkers web site, Cars.Gov, like the following one shown below are going around, fueled by the latest Glenn Beck fear mongering. Keep in mind that it is 100% BS.

First, if you go to Cars.Gov, your computer will not be taken over. I’ve done it, I know it doesn’t happen and that it’s not possible. The terms do not state that it will happen. Second, those terms cannot be found on Cars.Gov. Finally, what Beck doesn’t tell you is that there is another government site he must have used to find those terms, ESC.Gov, that is for car dealers only.

Here is part of the transcript… This guy is really clueless. I was particularly amused by his fear of browser cookies!

BECK: Let me bring in Kimberly Guilfoyle. She’s here. She’s a FOX News anchor.

Kim, I wanted to bring you in because the Cars.gov — and I recommend, America, do not try this at home. I’m going to show it to you. This is somebody else’s computer. I took it from their office, because I wouldn’t do this on mine.

KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE, FOX NEWS ANCHOR: Yes.

BECK: Cars.gov. This actually came in a tip from what I call a constitutional watchdog. I’m asking my radio listeners earlier all this week to watch these things, because 10 million eyes on radio, and God knows how many millions of eyes here on television watching things that we can’t watch. This is a frightening thing.

GUILFOYLE: It really is.

BECK: Yes.

GUILFOYLE: Don’t — people shouldn’t go on it right now while you’re doing it. Don’t do it.

BECK: Do not do this at home. Trust me. You’ll understand why.

OK. Can you take a shot here of this, Oscar?

Here is Cars.gov. Let’s say you go in. If I understand this right, I go in and I say, “I want to turn in my clunker.” The dealer goes to Cars.gov, and then they hit “submit transaction.” Here it says “privacy act and security statement,” and it’s like, oh, it’s the Privacy Act of 1974. Whatever. I agree.

Now, this is how bad this system is. It probably won’t pull up, because the system is so overwhelmed. You know, it was a $19 million Web site.

GUILFOYLE: Right.

BECK: So, let me — it’s not going to pull up now. Watch. It’s thinking. It’s trying really hard.

Let me show you what it does say when you pull it up. Can you bring up the full screen on what it says?

A warning box comes up, and it says, “This application provides access to the DOT CARS system. When logged on to the CARS system, your computer is considered a federal computer system and it is property of the United States Government. Or — any or all uses of this system and all files on this system may be intercepted, monitored, recorded, copied, audited, inspected, and disclosed to authorized CARS, DOT, law enforcement personnel, as well as authorized officials of other agencies, both domestic and foreign.”

Good God Almighty!

Fear Mongering Glenn Beck Calls Obama Dangerous

Conservatives would love President Obama to fail and are now drawing a line in the sand with Health Care reform by calling it Obama’s Waterloo. Glenn Beck adds to the hate with a little fear mongering by calling the President “dangerous.”

BECK: I’m telling you – this guy is dangerous. He’s never lost before. He won’t understand it. He won’t understand – look how – he, uh, is like, who are you to question me? I mean, this guy is practically an imperial president now. When he starts to lose and people start to question him and push him back against the wall, he’s not gonna know how to react.

As Beck has stated, he doesn’t research, so how would he know that Obama lost a Democratic primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000? Maybe Beck should try that research thing so he won’t look like such an idiot…

Glenn Beck Comparison Ties Obama to 9/11 & Pearl Harbor

Never short of comedic material, Glenn Beck doesn’t short us on laughs this time around… In one breath, Beck’s actor portraying Thomas Paine makes a comparison of Obama and his economic policies to the bombing of Pearl Harbor as well as the planes crashing into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

“Your complacency will only aid and abet our national suicide. Remember, they wouldn’t dare bomb Pearl Harbor, but they did. They wouldn’t dare drive two planes into the World Trade Center, but they did. They wouldn’t dare pilot a plane through the most sophisticated air defenses in the world and crash into the Pentagon, but they did. They wouldn’t dare pass the largest spending bill in history, in open defiance of the will of the people*, but they did!”

What would the reasoning be behind such an absurd statement? Desperation. It’s a fear mongering tactic to try to gain support for their Tea Party protests and there is sure to be more to come as we get closer to April 15 and they realize that the streets will be as empty as their threats.

Glenn Beck Is Great at Acting Insane

Glenn Beck and his fear mongering… He really seems to have a whole boat load of fear to dish out to his followers. The only way for him to keep his sheep in line is to have a steady stream of fear to feed them. In the latest fear feast, he douses someone with a gas can full of water and lights a match while stating the following gem.

“President Obama, why don’t you just set us on fire? For the love of Pete, what are you doing? Do you not hear — do you not hear the cries of people who are saying stop? We would like some sanity in our country for a second! We didn’t vote to lose the republic. We didn’t vote for any of this stuff. We voted for change.
