President Obama and Vice President Biden released their tax returns on Thursday (Tax day). They reveal that Biden and his wife, Jill, earned $330,000 in 2009, but gave just four tenths of one percent ($4,820) in cash and “in kind” contributions to charity. The Obamas did slightly better. They gave almost 6 percent of their $5.5 million joint income to charity. Much of their income came from the president’s two bestselling books.

Check the math. The amounts provided by Fox News for Joe Biden do not represent “four tenths of one percent,” but rather almost 1.5%.  Additionally, there is no mention of President Obama’s Nobel Prize donation ($1.4 million) to ten different charities, but not claiming a tax deduction for the donation. The Nobel Prize contribution would have amounted to over 25% of the $5.5 million income reported by Fox News.

Fox News calls it another verbal gaffe. Ask yourself, is it really a gaffe if it’s true and inconsequential? Fox News reports that Vice President Joe Biden has revealed the whereabouts of a “secret bunker” intended to keep him safe during an attack. The location? Under the Naval Observatory, the official residence for the Vice President and his family. Really, is anyone honestly surprised? There are rooms and tunnels under the White House for the President and the First Family. Various other “secret” locations have been disclosed on the news and in documentaries. And the “secret bunker” that Cheney had built under the Naval Observatory in 2002 was made public knowledge during its construction. It was impossible to hide it from the neighbors… Is this really a gaffe, much less newsworthy?

How petty can one man be? Just ask Sean Hannity… Barack Obama and Joe Biden visited an Arlington, VA burger joint. Innocent, right? Apparently, Sean Hannity thinks that requesting spicy, or Dijon mustard makes you elitist, stating, “I hope you enjoyed that fancy burger, Mr. President.” To make matters worse, Hannity includes a Grey Poupon commercial and Obama’s picture has a caption that reads, “President Poupon.” Not only did Obama not request Grey Poupon, it’s apparently quite normal for people in Chicago to not order ketchup. Sean Hannity, that was just pathetic.

Like the pot calling the kettle black, the Rovian attack machine is at it again, calling Vice President Biden a “blowhard,” “serial Exaggerator” and “liar.”

“I hate to say this, but he’s a serial exaggerator,” Rove told FOX News. “If I was being unkind I would say liar. But it is a habit he ought to drop.”

The name calling by Rove was in response to the following statement made by Biden to CNN’s Gloria Borger.

“I remember President Bush saying to me one time in the Oval Office, and he was a great guy, enjoyed being with him. He said to me, he said, well, Joe, he said, I’m a leader. And I said, Mr. President, turn around and look behind you. No one’s following. People are beginning to follow the United States again as a consequence of our administration.”
