Rush Limbaugh Questions Glenn Beck’s ‘Objective’ in Keynote Speech

You read that right, conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh, like other conservative radio personality Mark Levin, has turned on his buddy, conservative radio personality Glenn Beck. Apparently Limbaugh didn’t entirely agree with Beck’s CPAC keynote speech and had this to say:

LIMBAUGH: I would not have said that the only people who can stop Obama should be excoriated for being just as bad…It would never occur to me to say that. I don’t know what the objective would be.

People are getting tired of Beck dividing, intentional or not, the Republican party.

Fox News’ Sarah Palin a Hypocrite? You Betcha!

Recently, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel used the political incorrect term “f***ing retarded” describing the strategy of Senate liberals. Former quitter governor of Alaska and current Fox News personality Sarah Palin called for Rahm Emanuel to be fired in a post on Facebook, equating Emanuel’s statement to using the “N-word.”

PALIN: I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm’s continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.

The Obama Administration’s Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, “F—ing retarded,” according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking.

However, a few weeks ago she told Glenn Beck that she was worried that people can no longer use politically incorrect terms in the United States. Here’s a clip (discussion takes part around 4:30):

YouTube Preview Image

Obviously, Beck is no stranger to politically incorrect and insensitive language. One incident that comes to mind is Beck referring to the anti-gay slur used by Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington toward co-star T.R. Knight as “a naughty name.

BECK: But anyway, Dave, what is the — what is the controversy? One of the guys called another guy a naughty name.

And, don’t forget this comment from Beck about race:

BECK: African-American is a bogus, PC, made-up term. I mean, that’s not a race.

Palin has yet to condemn Rush Limbaugh for using the term several times (i.e. calling liberals “retards” and calling for a “retard summit”).

LIMBAUGH: Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards. I mean these people, these liberal activists are kooks.

They are loony tunes. And I’m not going to apologize for it, I’m just quoting Emanuel. It’s in the news.

I think their big news is he’s out there calling Obama’s number one supporters f’ing retards. So now there’s going to be a meeting. There’s going to be a retard summit at the White House. Much like the beer summit between Obama and Gates and that cop in Cambridge.

So, here we have a woman with a baby that has Down Syndrome, complaining about people using politically incorrect language, while complaining to others about the problem with political correctness, who are politically incorrect themselves, but is also the same person who, according to Levi Johnson, calls Trig, her own child, her “retarded baby.

Where’s the “fair and balanced” outrage? She fits right in at FNC…

Glenn Beck Politicized Obama’s Reaction to Haiti Earthquake

Last week, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh jumped on the anti-Obama bandwagon, again, to attack the President for his hurried response to the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti where it’s reported that death tolls may reach 200,000.

BECK: I also believe this is dividing the nation…to where the nation sees him react so rapidly on Haiti and yet he couldn’t react rapidly on Afghanistan. He couldn’t react rapidly on Ft. Hood. He couldn’t react rapidly on our own airplanes with an underwear bomber…it doesn’t make sense. [...] Three different events and Haiti is the only one. I think personally that it deepens he divide to see him react this rapidly to Haiti.

Polls showed that most Americans approved of Obama’s handling of the other incidents. Additionally, other Fox News personalities including Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham disagree with Beck’s bashing of the President for his reaction time.

It’s good that he reacts quickly to Haiti,” O’Reilly said last night on Fox News, later asking Ingraham, “You have no problem with his quick response to Haiti?” “Yeah, no,” she replied.

Perhaps Beck should provide a guidelines of appropriate response times for others to refer to in times of emergency… Would it be based on the number of deaths, or the ratings desired?

Viggo Mortensen Slams Glenn Beck & Rush Limbaugh

Actor Viggo Mortensen, well known for his roll as Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, sat down with Mother Jones to discuss his latest film, The Road. During the interview, the issue of people comparing Obama to Hitler was brought up. Here’s what he had to say:

VM: …It’s amazing to me that Glenn Beck can be on the cover of Time, and there can be a whole article about him basically saying, “Well, you know, he’s controversial.” It’s like, No, he’s a dangerous idiot who needs the help of a good psychiatrist! But these are also guys who make money and they like the attention. Rush Limbaugh, for example, knows he’s lying his ass off, but he doesn’t mind making $50 million a year.

MJ: We had an in-house debate about how to cover these guys: The upshot was that you don’t follow their antics, but you’ve still got to cover them.

VM: You gotta do it honestly. It doesn’t mean you have to start swearing and using their tactics, but I think you have to call them on it. If you let them go with it they’ll go and go and go. They are bullies. But like all bullies, if you stand up to them they’re not so strong.

Coalition Takes Action With StopTheWitchHunt.org

The following was released today by StopTheWitchHunt.org:

This Halloween, take action against the lies and hate speech that Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs, Paul Brown, and Pat Buchanan have been spewing in a nationwide witch hunt.

Echo Justice, a coalition of national and local organizations launched a multi-media counter to the right-wing’s echo chamber. StopTheWitchHunt.org is a newly formed multimedia watch dog portal that will use social media and mobile communications to take a grassroots stand and “call out” the mischaracterizations and hate speech that has been going on for too long.

“History has taught that bad things happen when good people are silent,” says Makani Themba- Nixon, Executive Director of The Praxis Project and a member of the Echo Justice coalition. “StoptheWitchHunt.org allows us to confront these scare tactics and make our voices heard.”

The website is designed to give voice to the millions of Americans who believe it is time for talk-show hosts and elected officials to stop stoking the racial anxieties of the fringes of America.

Beck and his fellow band of hooligans have been telling scary stories about President Obama whom Limbaugh has disrespectfully referred to as “the little black man child.” Beck recently accused the biracial President of having “a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.” And he has attacked a number of key Administration officials accusing them of being socialist and anti-American. Limbaugh, who has a history of making racially charged remarks about Obama, has called the mixed-race president “a halfrican American.” Days before the President’s inauguration in January, Limbaugh said, “I hope he fails” - the verbal equivalent of putting a razor blade in a candy apple.

StoptheWitchHunt.org is just the beginning of a multi-media campaign to support a new resistance to these Halloween Goons. Visit stopthewitchhunt.org or text WITCHHUNT to 228466 to build public support for a more responsible journalism.

Bill O’Reilly’s Research of Limbaugh’s Race Baiting

Make that lack of research…

Bill O’Reilly claims that “[f]air-minded Americans know that playing the race card is easy and hateful. The only thing we can find about Rush Limbaugh is that he thinks quarterback Donovan McNabb is overrated by some people who want black quarterbacks to succeed.” O’Reilly needs to fire his research staff, or learn to use Google himself… Here’s what he should have found, and aired, if he wanted to be “fair and balanced:”

Not only does O’Reilly prove that his research is biased, inept, or nonexistent, he distorted reality in regarding to Media Matters For America’s reporting of O’Reilly’s own comments.

OREILLY: Now, I’ve been through this. A couple years ago, I said on the radio that having dinner in Harlem at Sylvia’s Restaurant was the same as having dinner anywhere in America. The context was my grandmother, who was very afraid of blacks, even though she never even met a black person. Her fear was irrational. And I made that point quite clearly.

But the vicious website Media Matters put forth I was denigrating a black-owned restaurant. And some people actually believed it without even listening to the radio broadcast, which I posted on billoreilly.com so everybody could hear it. Well, there goes my NFL career.

Actually, MMFA provided the audio and transcript. Here’s what O’Reilly said about Sylvia’s Restaurant in Harlem:

And I couldn’t get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia’s restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it’s run by blacks, primarily black patronship.

FoxNation Doesn’t Get Satire

Apparently, the people at FoxNation didn’t realize the blog, Elective Decisions, posted a satirical statement from former Governor Tom Ridge (R) about Rush Limbaugh:

So this morning, Ridge went back on Washington Journal, responding to Limbaugh’s rhetoric. “I’m so sick of Rush Limbaugh. He’s the reason we lose elections. He needs to get the hell out of the Republican Party. As far as I’m concerned, he isn’t a Republican anymore. The man’s running. The man’s hiding. He’s too scared to face me!”

Ridge continued his rant, threatening Limbaugh. “Meanwhile, he sits there in his ‘Southern Command Post,’ and destroys the Republican Party! I’d like to just have three rounds in a boxing ring with that guy so I could shut him up! I’m caling (sic) you out, Limbaugh. Let’s see if you have a big enough set of marbles to back up your crap!”

The encounter was posted on the FoxNation site as if it were fact:

Wanda Sykes Slams Sean Hannity At Correspondents Dinner

Wanda Sykes was the featured comic at the White House Correspondents Dinner and she had some choice words for Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Sykes brought up the fact that Hannity has not lived up to his waterboarding pledge and joked that Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker on 9/11.

“Sean Hannity said that he was going to get waterboarded for charity for our armed forces. He hasn’t done it yet I see. Talking about he can take a waterboarding, please,ok you might be able to get waterboarded by somebody he knows and trusts, but let somebody from Pakistan waterboard him, or let Keith Olbermann waterboard him. He can’t take a waterboarding. I can break Sean Hannity by giving him a middle seat in coach.”

Student Supposedly Scolded For Reading FoxNews.com

Leave it to Fox News to report pure hearsay as fact, especially if it’s regarding Fox News, or from Rush Limbaugh, or both. Supposedly, a 18 year old Michigan high school student called into Rush Limbaugh’s radio show and complained that his teacher scolded him for reading FoxNews.com. From the article, Fox News did not get a direct statement from the student, they did not find out which teacher, nor did they have a first hand account from anybody. Also important to note is that the student never made a complaint through the school, so the only record of this is a more-or-less anonymous call to Rush Limbaugh. Wow.

Sean Penn Speaks Out Against Cheney, O’Reilly & Hannity

Sean Penn recently wrote for The Huffington Post about the Obama’s decisions about holding Bush Administration officials accountable and to shake President Chavez’s hand.

“The Cheneys, down to the O’Reillys and Hannitys and Limbaughs, effectively hate the principles upon which we were founded. They are among the greatest cowards in all of American history. I applaud an American President who’s tough enough…to smile.”
