PALIN: I studied journalism, my college degree there in communications. And now I am back there wanting to build some trust back in our media. I think the mainstream media is quite broken and I think there needs to be the fairness, the balance in there — that’s why I joined Fox. Fair and balanced, yes. You know because, Jay, those years a go that I studied journalism it was all about the who, what, when, where, and why, it was not so much the opinion interjected in hard news stories. … As long as there is not the opinion under the guise of hard news stories — I think there needs to be clear differentiation.

Not only does she ignore the fact that Fox News Channel is part of the mainstream media, but she ignores all of the evidence that clearly shows that Fox News’ opinions bleed over to their “news” segments… Unless she was talking about FNC being “quite broken.”

TVNEWSER: The evening opinion hosts get a lot of press and a lot of attention … I’m kind of wondering, do you think that there’s any sort of effect on the news reporters and anchors?

HEMMER: I hope not.  You wonder if some of that bleeds over into other areas.  In our case, it does not. On our broadcast, with Martha MacCallum and me, we shoot it down the middle at 9am and for the next several hours after that.

Here are numerous examples to prove Hemmer wrong:

PALIN: I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm’s continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.

The Obama Administration’s Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, “F—ing retarded,” according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking.

However, a few weeks ago she told Glenn Beck that she was worried that people can no longer use politically incorrect terms in the United States. Here’s a clip (discussion takes part around 4:30):

Obviously, Beck is no stranger to politically incorrect and insensitive language. One incident that comes to mind is Beck referring to the anti-gay slur used by Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington toward co-star T.R. Knight as “a naughty name.”

BECK: But anyway, Dave, what is the — what is the controversy? One of the guys called another guy a naughty name.

And, don’t forget this comment from Beck about race:

BECK: African-American is a bogus, PC, made-up term. I mean, that’s not a race.

Palin has yet to condemn Rush Limbaugh for using the term several times (i.e. calling liberals “retards” and calling for a “retard summit”).

LIMBAUGH: Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards. I mean these people, these liberal activists are kooks.

They are loony tunes. And I’m not going to apologize for it, I’m just quoting Emanuel. It’s in the news.

I think their big news is he’s out there calling Obama’s number one supporters f’ing retards. So now there’s going to be a meeting. There’s going to be a retard summit at the White House. Much like the beer summit between Obama and Gates and that cop in Cambridge.

So, here we have a woman with a baby that has Down Syndrome, complaining about people using politically incorrect language, while complaining to others about the problem with political correctness, who are politically incorrect themselves, but is also the same person who, according to Levi Johnson, calls Trig, her own child, her “retarded baby.”

Where’s the “fair and balanced” outrage? She fits right in at FNC…

SHINE: With her hiring, Fox News gets a high-profile figure whose pronouncements on issues such as healthcare reform have helped drive contentious partisan debate — it was her Facebook post that first raised the term “death panels.”

“She is one of the most talked about and politically polarizing figures in the country,” said Bill Shine, the network’s executive vice president of programming. “First off, we hope she brings that.”

The VP of Programming has clearly dismissed responsibility and accuracy in reporting as long as their viewership is increased. By stating that he was “not concerned that Palin would make false assertions,” but rather welcoming the controversy, the “zero tolerance for on-screen errors” policy is, obviously, another Fox News lie.

According to PolitiFact.com, the following statements made by Palin have earned a “False” or “Pants on Fire” status – This is the kind of accuracy Fox News viewers should expect:

• Seniors and the disabled “will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care.” (Pants on Fire)
• Obama would “experiment with socialism.” (Pants on Fire)
• “The truth was revealed there in that report that showed there was no unlawful or unethical activity on my part.” (Pants on Fire)
• “Ronald Reagan faced an even worse recession” than the current one. (False)
• The McCain campaign “did not elaborate” on Obama’s ties to ACORN. (False)
• Says she couldn’t take stimulus money because it required “universal building codes.” (False)
• A provision in the health care reform bill for end-of-life counseling for seniors is not “entirely voluntary.” (False)
• Palin said stimulus money for weatherization required “universal energy building codes for Alaska, kind of a one-size-fits-all building code that isn’t going to work up there in Alaska.” (False)
• “We’re building a nearly $40-billion natural gas pipeline, which is North America’s largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever.” (False)
• “If an Iranian woman shows too much hair in public, she risks being beaten or killed.” (False)

Palin won’t be the first GOP governor to become a Fox News personality, as she will be joining the channel that hosts Mike Huckabee’s weekend show. Also, Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren is close friends with the Palin family, her husband having been an adviser for Sarah Palin. Fox News also invited the Palins to the White House Correspondents Dinner, though only Todd attended.

The editors will be busy if the ‘zero tolerance for on-screen errors‘ policy is enforced… which, we’ve seen, is not.

We’re in the process of arranging interviews with local and national media. An interview with Oprah Winfrey is already scheduled, and I’m also hoping to have the opportunity to talk with Bill O’Reilly, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller, Tammy Bruce, and others, including local Alaska personalities Bob & Mark and Eddie Burke. At the end of her book, Going Rogue, Sarah Palin thanks, by name, the “bold and patriotic, fair and balanced media folks” who “mak[e] the idiots’ heads spin” (emphasis added):

Thanks for not taking our Freedom of the Press for granted, you bold and patriotic, fair and balanced media folks. It’s a safe bet the people she’s referring to include Fox News’ Andrew Napolitano, Bill O’Reilly, Dennis Miller, Glenn Beck, Greta Van Susteren, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin and Sean Hannity, in addition to Ann Coulter, Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh.

If Palin is the type of person to like having two people fight over her, she must have been thrilled when she made her promotional rounds. Apparently, there was a feud between Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity regarding who would would get to air their interview with Palin first. They both recorded their interviews on a Tuesday, but Hannity beat O’Reilly in getting it on air by a day. According to a Fox News insider, O’Reilly threw a “hissyfit” and released a teaser on YouTube. Source

Also important to note is that Greta Van Susteren hyped Palin’s book, saying, “the entire country is buzzing…” and “no one — and we mean no one — can stop talking about her.” She also criticized media who “pooh-poohed” Palin. However, Greta failed to disclose the fact that her husband, John Coale, was an adviser for Sarah Palin and is also the creator of the political action committee, SarahPAC. Source

Unless Palin enjoys sexist behavior, the love may not be universal. While she seemed to entertain the idea of a Sarah Palin / Glenn Beck ticket for the 2012 presidential election, and Beck would certainly have his lips firmly planted on her derriere, he remarked that “She’d be yapping or something, and I’d say, ‘I’m sorry, why am I hearing your voice? I’m not in the kitchen.’”
